Following the recent announcement of their forthcoming debut album Lonely World, post-hardcore outfit Acres are gearing up for their extensive UK/European tour supporting Casey. We caught up with the band ahead of the dates to hear their top tips and stories from the road.
Favourite thing about touring:
Playing to a crowd that are visibly enjoying the music is the best feeling in the world, and having new people hear us is great.
Least favourite thing about touring:
Being away from home is never easy, especially when you’re sleeping on the floor in someone flat.
Five essentials for the road:
A pillow, headphones, clean boxers, an aux cable and I think we’d all be lost without our phones.
Your favourite way to pass the time:
We watch a lot of movies on drives or we have Freemo’s Screamo disco (Alex plays all the music you’d wanna hear at an “emo night”) when no one is the mood for movies.

Memorable moment:
We recently opened a festival in Germany to between 3000 to 4000 people which was pretty special.
Hilarious moment:
On our last tour Alex tried to hop a turnstile to get into a roadside restroom. He fell on his face and broke his sunglasses. It was so funny that we asked the clerk for the CCTV footage but it was “against company policy”.
Embarrassing moment:
Ben forgets his name a lot when he introduces himself. It’s always hilarious for us, not so much for him.
Outrageous moment:
We flew to Latvia to shoot the video for Lonely World and we were caught in a blizzard. It was so bad that our van got stuck in the snow at least five times. It was pretty scary at first but after a couple of days it was standard procedure.
Rewarding moment:
Announcing our debut album Lonely World. It’s been on the cards for a long time so finally getting to release it into the world is a huge milestone for our band. We’re super excited for people to hear it.
