After a busy festival season alongside two shows supporting Royal Blood, Australia’s Psychedelic Porn Crumpets gear up for their their own headline tour in support of their latest album And Now For The Whatchamacallit. We caught up with the band ahead of the shows to hear their top tips and stories from the road.
Favourite thing about touring:
Hanging out with my best friends and Chris, exploring the world together.
Least favourite thing about touring:
Hanging out with Chris.
Five essentials for the road:
– Corkscrew
– Vitamin C
– Paw-Paw Cream
– Slides
– Travel Adaptor
Your favourite way to pass the time:
Playing chess championships in the van whilst eating a pound value pack of smoked almonds.
“The Most”
Memorable moment:
When Magic Mike visited a castle with us, carrying a guitar, a 6-pack and a joint hanging out of his mouth and asking the elderly attendant if that attractive quaint old lady in the painting is available – “That’s Queen Victoria and you would be beheaded.”
Hilarious moment:
Bowling and playing arcade games inebriated in France.
Embarrassing moment:
Being asked for autographs in a Milwaukee Walmart for being Australian (“Do you guys have windows in Australia?”)
Outrageous moment:
Being arrested at a music conference festival (still innocent).
Drunken moment:
Found a chair in a park to pass out on, which turned out to be in an assembly for a war memorial day.
Rewarding moment:
Humbly rewarded to be travelling the world playing festivals such as Summersonic/Splendour in the Grass/Best Kept Secret this year.
