Gold Key have released their new single Sweet Darkness, a taste of their forthcoming album which is due for release in 2020 via VENN Records.
“We decided to pack a van full of equipment and get dropped off at a cottage in Arthog, Gwynedd on the coast of North Wales,” vocalist/guitarist Steve Sears recently told Kerrang! “With no phone signal, no car and nothing within walking distance, we were 100% isolated. It was perfect. My day job is recording other bands in the city and I didn’t want to repeat the same old process in the same old place. A lot of my songs deal with feelings of isolation and bewilderment so being in the middle of nowhere really made sense. The cottage wasn’t designed to be a studio at all, so the sounds really are as honest as they get. Most of the songs were recorded live. I think you can only do that when there are zero distractions. We didn’t see a single another human the whole time we were there and I think you can hear that in the music.”
