The Front Bottoms have released a video for their new single Fairbanks, Alaska, taken from their forthcoming album In Sickness & In Flames.
“When you listen to this, we definitely want you to feel the anxiety,” the band explain of their upcoming album. “There are some pretty rock and roll songs and heavy moments on In Sickness & In Flames. We hope the tension comes across. We went through all of these unbelievable life changes, and then all of these insane things happened in the world. If you get anything out of it, we want it to be that creativity can basically solve any problem and will save us.”
In Sickness & In Flames is due for release on 21st August 2020 via Atlantic Records, available to pre-order HERE.
To celebrate the album release, The Front Bottoms will host a virtual album listening event HERE on 21st August 2020 at 10pm BST. The event will allow fans to listen to In Sickness & In Flames alongside an accompanying film, which the band have created for the album.
The Front Bottoms recently released ukulele versions of previous singles camouflage and everyone blooms, which also feature on the new album, on BandCamp. The two tracks (which you can check out HERE) raised $3,595 in proceeds in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. This was matched by the band alongside an additional contribution from Fueled By Ramen, donating a total of $10,000 to The Center for Cultural Power, a women of colour, artist-led organisation, inspiring artists and culture makers to imagine a world where power is distributed equitably.
“Through the power of art, we have a responsibility to do our part to help make the world a better place for everyone, especially those who identify as BIPOC. Without all of you this would not be possible, and we are so grateful for your endless support,” the band commented. Check out their full letter to their fans HERE.
The Front Bottoms have also been broadcasting short films and live performances on their Twitch channel, after they were forced to cancel their spring headline tour and co-headline dates with Jimmy Eat World due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Additional programmes will be announced in the coming weeks, for now check out their previous streams HERE.
