Following a hectic year, with the release of their second album, Goodbye To Misery, and a UK/EU tour, including a substantial festival run, you’d think that Anglo-Scottish punk rockers Cold Years, would be winding down for a well deserved rest. But we couldn’t be far from it.
Despite not being fans of the festive season, they have just dropped their cover of Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone. But of course, it wouldn’t be a Cold Years hit if they didn’t put their own twist on it. But don’t our word for it, see for yourselves:
When asked for comments regarding the unexpected release, frontman, Ross Gordon shares how, “I think we’ve just worked so hard this year we needed a blowout, something just fun you know? I hate Christmas but this song is fun, something everyone including ourselves needs right now”. And we can honestly say it’s one of our favourite covers yet.
