Superchunk have released a rare B-side titled February Punk, from their Majesty Shredding era. Born as a companion to lead single Digging For Something, the deep cut was originally available as a limited edition 7-inch, limited to 1,000 copies.
February Punk will now feature on the band’s fourth singles compilation Misfits & Mistakes: Singles, B-sides & Strays 2007-2023 compilation, due for release on 27th October 2023 via Merge Records.
“It’s about it never being too late to get into cool stuff,” says vocalist/guitarist Mac McCaughan. “[Co-producer Scott Solter] helped us find new space and depth in our sound that we hadn’t had before without losing the energy the songs used to have.”
Superchunk‘s fourth singles compilation is a 4-LP or 2-CD collection, covering their return from hiatus up to present day. Misfits & Mistakes includes 50 songs, 16 of which will be on physical media for the first time. The release houses non-album tracks, demos, and cover songs sourced from 7-inches, compilations, and previously internet-exclusive artifacts. The boxset will also contain extensive liner notes by McCaughan(with additional notes from Laura Ballance).
Misfits & Mistakes is available to pre-order HERE.
