MUSIC NEWS: The Dangerous Summer Release Miley Cyrus Cover For Rude Records Charity Compilation
The Dangerous Summer have released a cover of Miley Cyrus‘ hit We Can’t Stop, as part of Rude Records‘ charity compilation Changing Tides.
“It is an honour to take part in Changing Tides, a great way to give back to a charity that is doing great work,” says AJ Perdomo.
”The Dangerous Summer has never done a cover before, so when I think of a great cover, I need to change it completely. I want to bring a song into The Dangerous Summer universe, and make it have the same heart as we have. I also love to make something that surprises people, and then gives a completely new perspective to a song that may be overlooked by our fans. We Can’t Stop is one of the most incredible songs, and definitely a club banger. When you peel back the layers of the track though, you really see the incredible amount of emotion in the song. In my thoughts, I feel like this is Miley Cyrus’ Fuck Them All. It is a punk rock anthem about freedom and life, and about taking control of your own narrative, and taking control of your own life. The progression, melody, and lyrics are undeniably emotional. So when I was in Italy, I played it on an organ. I tried to make it as dramatic as possible. Then when I got back I brought it into Will Beasley, who produced our last 2 records, and the unreleased new album Gravity; and we chased that emotional feeling down a hole, and turned this song into a dramatic journey. I hope the world feels it and connects with it. Thank you so much to Rude for the opportunity.”

Changing Tides is a project under the Rude Cares wing. Rude Records artists taking part in this project agreed to record cover songs on environmental topics and raise their voices for a more sustainable environment. With each song, the label will donate profits to the cause of “raising awareness and make the world a better place” through music. 100% of collected funds with the distribution of the cover songs will benefit Sea Shepherd.
