Tonight was a little bit special at The Garage as all three bands on the line-up were led by powerful female vocalists – which is still very rare to see, and what a great night of music they provided. As December Falls’ Join The Club tour arrived in Glasgow after the bands successful short tour in Germany and Czech Republic with the crowed looking forward to hearing songs from the Join The Club album, released in July 2023.

Chester’s Lizzy Farrall took to the stage around 7.15pm with her alternative pop-rock band playing tracks from her 2020 album Bruise, a very lively album dealing with the trials and tribulations of life growing up. The eight track set began with Gaslighting, centred around a relationship. Yellow Paint, Addict and Barbados were stand out tracks, with the latter being Farrall’s biggest song to date. During the last song Mad Hotel, the singer came out into the crowd to generate some energy in the room, we also got to hear their latest single Room 42 which was released in July. Lizzy Farrall has an amazing voice and we should be hearing much more from her in 2024. 8/10

Welsh rock/metal band Dream State have a reputation for a very raw, lively set and they provided the same tonight kicking off the set with latest single Still Dreaming, immediately getting the crowd onside. Vocalist Jessie Powell knows how to work a crowd as she commanded the full stage screaming into the mic. Dream State have a decent back catalogue of songs to choose from, and some of the fans may have been disappointed that they didn’t get to hear their favourite song during the nine track set, I Feel It Too was missed out from the set much to our disappointment. Even though the band have only released one full album to date in 2019, Primrose Path, their electrifying set had the crowd singing the lyrics back to them and after some encouragement from Powell a few circle pits finally broke out around the Garage. During White Lies, Powell jumped the barrier to dance alongside the crowd. Another recent release Chin Up Princess was played to perfection but the highlights of the set were the last two songs, Taunt Me and Primrose as the crowd reached fever pitch. Dream State have just been announced to play at Download 2024 and will hopefully be back in Glasgow soon for a headline show. 9/10

There would have been around 600 inside The Garage as the Nottingham band took to the stage. Forming in 2014 As December Falls are Bethany Curtis (vocals), Ande Hunter (guitar) and Timmy Francis (bass). The punk-rock band are gaining a good following around the UK and Europe and played at Download festival during the summer. The Join The Club tour was a chance for As December Falls to play tracks from the latest album, their third to date, touring the UK and they brought their A Game to the Garage tonight.  Curtis is certainly a bubbly likeable character as she worked the crowd during the opening tracks More To You and Go Away. During No Money the crowd chanted back the chorus “No No No Money!” with Curtis also demanding that the room be lit up like Venus during the track Happier, which the fans obliged with as torches were turned on, hands waving side to side. Mayday was a standout track from the set and during Everything You Say the band said that they have yet to see someone crowd surf in Glasgow. The security at the front must have wished they didn’t say that as wave after wave of fans were passed down to the front of the room as everyone else watched in amazement! The Garage is definitely the place to be for a lively crowd. The fifteen track set ended with Ride, taken from their debut album in 2019 as everyone took the opportunity for one last dance and singalong which was a great end to the night. Lets hope we get to see more nights like this at The Garage! 9/10
