After the release of debut album Who Let The Dogs Out back in January, Lambrini Girls are now on the road around the UK. The great weather continues in Glasgow as does the flow of great bands that are playing in the city this month. The Brighton outfit have a reputation for creating mayhem at their gigs and tonight is no different as we will find out later!

The old church of Saint Luke’s has hosted some memorable concerts recently and it really is a stunning venue, we had no joy finding out who the support band would be until we arrived and it turns out they were Loose Articles from Manchester, an up-and-coming punk band who put on a decent half-hour warm up performance. Here is a band that were hand-picked to support the Foo Fighters at Old Trafford Cricket Ground as well as releasing debut album Scream If You Wanna Go Faster in July 2024. Vocalist and bass player Natalie Wardle commands the stage with all the attitude of any bigger artist while guitarist Erin Caine and keyboard player Louise Rivett bring an extraordinary energy to the performance with the latter also playing drums and guitar at times. The drummer asks “are there any welders in the house?” before they play Are You A Welder? Whilst Chaos and latest release Guitars, Cars, Knickers and Bras are standouts from the set. If limbo dancing is more your thing we had some of that too as Natalie and Erin came down into the crowd using the microphone wire as a limbo wire, the crowd seemed very entertained by this downstairs. We will no doubt be hearing much more from Loose Articles. 8/10

Every show of the Lambrini Girls UK Who Let The Dogs Out Tour was sold out prompting the band to add even more dates towards the end of the year with two more Scottish dates in Edinburgh and Aberdeen added, the band are in high-demand during the festival season too. Phoebe Lunny (vocals & guitar), Lilly Macieira (bass) and Banksy (drums) make up what has to be one of the most energetic bands out there with Lunny spending just as much time amongst the crowd as on the stage, a quick word of warning though … Lambrini Girls are not a band for the easily offended! The anticipation from the sold-out crowd is palpable and Lunny takes to the stage asking the question “who is ready to fuck?” as they move into first track Big Dick Energy from the debut album, it’s a high-energy start as the first pits of the night begin and both Lunny & Macieira are in the crowd already. Help Me I’m Gay has Phoebe once again in the crowd, the security man that was assigned to them for the night must have been exhausted by the end of the show and he is referred to as ‘their dad’ by Lunny! There is a prolonged political moment during God’s Country where the crowd gets the opportunity to chant “free, free Palestine” as well as “fuck the King”, this is for a sure a no holds barred show. The crowd seem to be getting louder with each song as Company Culture and Lads Lads Lads brings the crowd to fever pitch.

Bad Apple is written around police corruption and the death of Sarah Everard, it’s a very important moment from the night. We then do meditation Lambrini Girls style as they tell us to breathe in … and scream out as most of the crowd do. Filthy Rich Nepo Baby has Lunny standing on their hands as the energy levels in the old church somehow rise again, there is always time for talking about serious subjects between songs while Boys In The Band deals with the privilege of male band members and how much more difficult it is for female bands to live up to this. Phoebe Lunny is now upstairs in the balcony as a pyramid of people is attempted downstairs by instruction to say “fuck Jesus”, meantime Macieira is lying on the stage playing bass and Banksy is keeping a cool head on the drum kit. We are sweating up in the balcony so who knows what it’s like downstairs as we move into Cuntology 101, one of the tracks from the album that we just knew would fire the crowd up. Here is a song that mentions the most hated word in the English language at least thirty times, the crowd are loving it though as we all join in with the chorus “C-U-N-T, I’m gonna do what’s best for me, I’m cunty/That’s cunty, C-U-N-T, I’ll prioritise my own needs, so I’m cunty”. As the band leaves the stage to a thunderous roar, chants of ‘one more tune’ and ‘here we fucking go’ were enough to persuade them back on to the stage for one last song in White Van, it’s the perfect end to a great night of in-your-face punk music. We think Lambrini Girls will be needing a far bigger venue next time they come to play in Glasgow such as Barrowland. If you get the chance to see the Brighton outfit live at a festival this year we would highly recommend it. 10/10
