Just under a year on from their sold out show at Electric Ballroom, Japanese quartet One OK Rock made their return to London. With this being the final date of their UK run of shows this year we had high hopes, especially with support coming from Dead! and We Came As Romans.
For Watford quartet Lower Than Atlantis their 2014 self-titled propelled them to the forefront of the British rock scene. Following on from this success a re-packaged version entitled Lower Than Atlantis – The Black Edition has been released rammed with the original album alongside new material, alternative versions and some very interesting covers. It’s usually a hit and miss game with re-releases but with 27 tracks we couldn’t really say no to giving it a listen.
Punk rock is a genre we never seem to get enough of nowadays, but London trio Counterfeit are here to change this. Their debut EP Come Get Some may be short at just three tracks long, but it provides the perfect introduction to their punky sound.
A dull Friday night in Bournemouth looked set to be turned around when we walked into O2 Academy for Scouting For Girls tour date in support of their Still Thinking About You album. We’ve made it no secret that we’re fans of the band having been at their previous Bournemouth show when we had a chat to them beforehand, so we knew tonight was set to be memorable.
Following on from it’s original release back in June, Nuneaton outfit Never Hill have re-released their Epilogue EP - this time with two additional alternative tracks. Usually we're not fans of the whole re-release, especially without a significant change to the previous versions; but maybe Epilogue could change our minds.
At Bring The Noise we’ve made it no secret that we really do applaud Midlands’s quartet Max Raptor for keeping the punk spirit alive in the British music scene. Following on from their 2013 debut full length Mother’s Ruin, they’re back with four track EP Damage Appreciation. There’s been a big change in the MR camp since the previous release: they’re now signed to Hassle Records and it’s safe to say we were very excited to see what this latest EP would bring…
Second albums are notoriously hard to perfect and usually see a band disappearing into the studio for months; but in the case of 5 Seconds of Summer who’ve been continuously touring the globe, their second album came just 16 months on from their first. Now we must admit we were pretty sceptical - especially with the drama over what genre to even fit the quartet into - se went in with an open mind and here’s what we discovered about Sounds Good Feels Good.
Since the release of their debut album Never Happy, Ever After in April 2015, As It Is have gone from strength to strength. From slots at Warped Tour and Reading and Leeds festivals to the re-release of their debut album with additional tracks, this is a band going places and fast. We headed down to the second of two dates at Camden’s Underworld to see their sold out show with support from Jule Vera and With Confidence we were hopeful for a sweaty night of musical fun.
Every once in a while, the British scene gets graced with a truly great band, Fort Hope are one of these. Following on from the release of their Manne of Lawe EP they’ve embarked on a hefty 22 date tour, including a sold-out date at London’s Barfly. We couldn’t help but have a feeling feel that tonight was going to be something pretty great.
